October 22, 2007 was a historic day for Mahima Shiksha Samiti, the sponsoring body of the Jaipur National University, and for the Seedling Institution of Higher Education, when the Government of Rajasthan announced the establishment of the University. Within a few months, after its establishment, the University got approvals and recognitions from all statutory national bodies, including the University Grants Commission (UGC), under the Clause 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956. Jaipur National University is the first NAAC accredited self-financed University in the state. The School of Distance Education and Learning received recognition for its programmes from the Distance Education Council of IGNOU and the Joint Committee of the UGC-AICTE-DEC for offering certain programmes through Distance Education mode. Besides these mandatory recognitions, the University has earned the trust and goodwill of aspiring students, parents, the public and similar concerned agencies, mainly due to the firm schedules of examination, delivery of quality Self Learning Material and efficient student support services. The university is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Recently, in a country-wide survey, the India Today magazine has ranked the university among the top 30 Universities
